RIBA Manser Medal 2010 for the best new house in UK
The objective of the prestigious RIBA Manser Medal is to encourage innovation in house design and is awarded to the best new house in the UK each year. Hunsett Mill won the award in 2010 for it's "arresting extension to a nineteenth century Grade 2 listed mill keepers house...which more than doubled the size of the original house on a uniquely picturesque site..." The project, which created the substantial extension in the form of a shadow of the original property, was described as "more akin to a piece of art than a piece of rural, domestic architecture."
